Every December we give our time and talent to “We Care” Children’s Christmas Charity for the underprivileged . We prosthetically transform Kenny from Herman Miller into humble old St. Nick with the great help of award winning artist Bill Terezakis. His multi award winning company WCT Productions has graciously donated silicone prosthetic’ s this year that take hours to sculpt, mold and run for our Santa creation. You can see their film credits here.
For the last five years BeautyINK has always created this transformation using time consummating products that we build and create right onto Kenny’s face. The application usually takes 5 hours to apply (face pieces and beard) and 2 hours to remove. Now with Bills incredible help, this time will be cut in half and patient Kenny will have less time sitting in our chair with his bum going numb .lol
When we were first approached about this by Herman Miller we were thrilled to assist. The smiles on these children faces warms our hearts and knowing they have a chance to experience Santa is a blessing in itself. Several of these children are in protective custody and not able to go to a mall to see Santa as normal children do. You can see their sadness when they arrive, but once they had a chance to sit on Santa’s knee and make gifts for their family, they leave with the hugest smiles of joy and warmth in their hearts.
Evey year it makes me cry to see these little ones in such hardship, but knowing we can give them a little spark of joy around the holiday’s, makes it all worth wild in the end. I want to extend my sincere appreciation to Bill and his dedicated team, Vicki for assisting me in the application, Kenny for all those volunteer hours without a single complaint and to Herman Miller for continually organizing this essential event.
With children’s hearts filled with love… the world can only be a better place.
We finally did it, with the help of DOP/ editor/ cinematographer Anca Scurtulesei. We directed and produced this first segment that gives a better idea of the custom work we create here at our boutique. Please take a look and let us know what you think……
Fair-haired Beauty Call volunteer Kate is an avid swimmer and scuba diver who is tired of reapplying her make-up every time she gets out of the water.
Kate wanted her very light eyebrows darkened and some permanent eyeliner applied to her upper eyelids to help enhance her otherwise light brown lashes. She did her homework and went to see Shauna Magrath at BeautyInk Gallery in Vancouver.
Kate’s consultation with Shauna at BeautyInk included a mock-up of what she was looking for. Once Kate approved, they continued on with the procedure.
Shauna applied the anaesthetic, then “grazed” the skin, which opens the skin cells, making them ready to accept pigment.
She first started with Kate’s upper lid eyeliner. She hugged the pigment into Kate’s lash line, where the pigment itself is unnoticeable, but it accentuates Kate’s upper lashes.
Shauna then went onto Kate’s brows. Kate said the anaesthetic numbed her skin completely so she didn’t feel a thing.
Kate was really happy with the results. She felt the application didn’t even look like a tattoo, and that it looked very natural.
A month later we checked in with Kate again and she couldn’t say enough good things about her permanent pigment.
We’re happy to report that permanent make-up gets the A&K Stamp of Approval. (But remember to do your homework!)
So don’t just take our word for it…. look at the results and remember consultations are always free, so you have nothing to loss but the need for make up!

It was only two short years ago when Shauna had the vision to created The BeautyInk Gallery, Vancouver’s first make up service boutique. From concept to creation, it took Shauna six exhausting months of 20 hour days with only her passion and short business training, to get the gallery up and running in their South Granville location. Since Shauna created this make up service boutique concept, two similar businesses have now opened their doors, one in Langley and one in Yaletown. Shauna’s concept is now being used as an example to make up artist and students all over the country as a viable way to create a business doing what they love the most- Make Up.
Shauna decided to take a hiatus from her 15 year film career to fulfill a need to help people that suffer everyday from physical challenges that hinder the quality of their lives. Since the Gallery opened it’s doors in 2008, Shauna been showcased on eight different TV segments both locally and national. The gallery has been able to service hundreds of client across Canada and the US, bringing a peace and liberation to each of them. This honor of being recognized for the hard work and dedication has truly touched her. ” Trying to create something that has never existed is exciting, but keeping it afloat and growing it is truly another. You must love what you do with your heart and soul and be willing to risk it all!” Shauna feels grateful for the lives she has been able to touch and the reward people experience from the work she loves so much. ” Suffering comes in so many way, accident, disease, birth defects, insecurity…. if I can help people look better and feel better about themselves, than I’ve served my purpose in life and what a blessing that is!” – Shauna Magrath
Shauna has become an inspiration to many both in the film industry and out. Her public speaking and mentor-ship has driven other women to step out and make a positive change with their careers opening businesses for themselves. People are seeing by her efforts there is life after film and some film artists are taking the leap, branching out and creating their own paths as well.
My curiosity into the world of eyelash extensions began while sitting poolside in Mexico this past winter. A problem I have on vacation is trying to wear makeup while basking in the sun and swimming in the ocean. The first day on vacation I saw a lady get out of the pool and her eyes looked immaculate. I saw her around the resort and after a few days I had to ask her, “Are your eyelashes real? They look amazing!” She confirmed that they were, in fact, eyelash extensions. From that moment on I wanted experience eyelash extensions and for my blinks to attract attention.
Being fairly uneducated about this cosmetic procedure I wanted to make sure that I put my eyes in the hands of an experienced professional. That professional that I developed a beautiful relationship with Shauna Magrath, owner of The BeautyInk Gallery in Vancouver. “Using only the safest medical products, finest organic materials and state-of-the-art medical-grade equipment, Shauna has mastered the art of micro-pigmentation: permanent cosmetics that are natural on the body with gentle, yet stunning effects” (www.beautyink.ca).
I arrived at the gallery to be greeted with indoor shoes, which help keep the environment sterile, and Shauna smiling. I knew I was not only going to be spending the next 2 hours changing the look of my eyes but learning about the process and getting to know Shauna. I was walked over to a bed and laid down while being covered with a very fuzzy blanket. I felt like I was getting ready for an early evening nap. So, I made myself comfortable and let Shauna work her magic.
These are my before eyes:
We moved the bottom lashes out of the way and the procedure began. I bet you are curious as to how the eyelashes are put on and this seems to be the burning question that everyone asks. Shauna is a well trained and very educated professional who helped answer all of my questions (because I couldn’t see what she was doing due to the fact that my eyes were shut). First she moved my bottom eyelashes out of the way by taping them down. It sounds weird but doesn’t hurt, I promise.
Unlike a lot of other places that offer this service, she uses silk woven lashes (these look very natural). She glues on each lash individually, with love, and goes back and forth between eyes, giving the glue time to dry. For the first set it take sabout 2 hours but the time flew by due to the relaxing position I was in and great conversation. After a few hours my eyelashes were dry and I had my first blink to my added beauty. For at least the next 2-3 weeks I have the most luscious and long eyelashes a gal can hope for.
These are my beautiful, new eyes:
I put my beauty in the hands of Shauna and couldn’t have been any happier. She offeres many services besides Semi-Permanent Eyelashes such as permanent makeup. She has free consultations so you can explore your curiosity. Ladies and Gents, imagine waking up looking beautiful and not spending so much money on products!

Here’s what they had to say on their Blog. We received two thumbs up!
Shauna Magrath owner of The BeautyInk Gallery is most proud of the ’service’ component to her makeup and permanent cosmetic boutique. Whether she is training women in naturally beautiful makeup application, providing the perfect brow shape, or using her artful hands to enhance a bride’s wedding-day glow, Shauna falls somewhere between the fairy godmother of beauty, and the cool, older sister you always wanted. Her boutique makes the perfect, post-winter destination in order to refresh and brighten your look. Consider it the more affordable version of that Caribbean cruise!

Last night I grabbed Keira-Anne and headed to the Red Cross Red Carpet Soiree. I held a contest on my site and I ran into the winner of my tickets, Lesley Chang, along with Karen from TinyBites, Paulo from istyleu, Melissa from FiveCorners604, Cathy Browne, and Chris Freimond of the IABC (where I gave my Twitter for Business talk).
The Red Carpet Part
Keira got her makeup touched up by The Beautyink Gallery and we enjoyed delicious canapés courtesy of our host, the Blue Water Care + Raw Bar. I was looking forward to another rosemary martini, like I had when I was a judge for the Grey Goose Arbiter of Cool competition but unfortunately no one there that night knew how to make it. Still, the wine from Mission Hill was flowing, the silent auction bids were rising, and the tunes from DJ Ocean were just right.
There are so many self tanners out there it is hard to know what works best, and many of us don’t want to risk streaks and turning orange to find out.
Well thanks to Shauna Magrath and London Drugs you don’t have to she has made herself the guinea pig over the past week, and today we get her results.
Her Favorite was Marcel wipes, they give natural results, easy to use and smells good!
Who’s the fairest of them all? You will be after a visit to BeautyInk.
We took an instructional lesson ($75/hr) at the BeautyInk Gallery where professional make-up artist Shauna Magrath—who’s got an Emmy to her name and worked on shows with stars like Charlize Theron and Jessica Alba on her CV—took us step-by-step through a new spring look. With no allegiance to a beauty counter, she gave us the scoop sans sale pressure on what high-end products are worth it and what discount drugstore buys are better.
We walked away with peepers that popped, the know-how to replicate it at home, and the dish on who’s a doll to work with (that would be Meg Ryan).

Yesterday while loading up on stocking stuffer goodies, I overheard women at the cosmetics counter having a conversation about what product they absolutely cannot live without. All women positioned mascara at the top of their list. They talked about the importance of luscious lashes — how they make you feel more confident, and appear bright, awake, and alert looking.
CRAVE agrees! So we asked Shauna Magrath, foundress of The BeautyInk Gallery in Vancouver, BC to recommend her favorite mascara to us, so that we could pass it along to you. She gave us a fab piece of advice — permanent lash extensions! Imagine waking up beautiful with long, sensual lashes your friends will fawn over, sans gunky-goo! You can live your life looking glamorous 24/7. You can play them down by day or dress them up by curling them and adding a little mascara at night.
Shauna told us they look completely natural and only require a fill similar to your nails, every four weeks. Fills take about an hour and cost only $50. She warned us that permanent lash extensions are addicting because your eyes will have never looked BETTER!
Permanent lash extensions feel comfortable and natural just like your own eyelashes. They are weather-proof and waterproof (that’s right — no more clumped mascara!).

Permanent Makeup For Thinning Eyebrows
October, 23, 2008.
Last week ,I spent a few hours with Shauna Magrath, a certified micro-pigmentation artist. She and I worked together in the 90′s on many films such as X files, Blade Trinity II, and The Glass Cockpit. She has applied makeup to many actors including, Hillary Duff, Meg Ryan, Gillian Anderson, Dominic Purcell, Jensen Ackels and David Duchovny.
Shauna has expanded her talents to the real world, and has set up a makeup service boutique called the Beauty Ink Gallery in the South Granville Lofts in Vancouver, for Micro-Pigmentation or otherwise known as Permanent Tattoo Makeup. This service provides women and men, with the option of having there eyes, brows, lips permanently enhanced. Shauna uses only Organic and Inorganic pigment colors, that last 5 – 10 years. There is no Iron Oxide in her colors, so there is less chance for the color to change with time. The color will fade if it is continually exposed to the sun. Colors that are made with iron oxide will eventually change from black to blue, otherwise known as blue brows.
I let Shauna fill and reshape my thin, short eyebrows with a pigment color (that she custom mixed), to a light, warm brown. My brows look fantastic!
The idea of Permanent Tattoo Makeup, Micro-Pigmentation, is to enhance your facial features, not to make your face look like it has a lot of makeup on.
No Drag Queen Looks! Please!
Corrective makeup can be done as well. Stretch marks can be diminished and white sun spots can be filled in. Women that have gone thru breast surgery, can have a new areola tattooed on. This is definitely the new wave of makeup for the busy mom, the full time career woman, or for those who have aging eyesight.
Many celebrities have Permanent Tattoo Makeup: Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears, Drew Barrymore, Victoria Beckham, Jessica Alba, Halle Barry, Beyonce, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Keifer Sutherland, Robert Downey Jr., Bruce Willis.
